Dr. Benton received her doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine from the National College of Natural Medicine in Portland , Oregon . She also has a Masters of Business Administration from Boise State University and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Washington in Seattle . She has been a Hospice patient care volunteer, a volunteer physician at New Day Homeopathic Clinic in Portland and a past chairperson for Steps to a Healthier Clark County . She is currently the Outings Chair for the local Loo Wit Chapter of the Sierra Club and serves on several national Sierra Outings Committees. She is a member of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians, Women's Entrepreneurial Association and the Battle Ground Chamber of Commerce. She also enjoys stained glass design, hiking, and studying Native American culture/traditions.
Karen conducts periodic healthy cooking classes through the Vancouver YMCA and is available as a workshop, seminar and special interest group speaker.
